Kelly Green

Steinway Artist Kelly Green is a pianist, vocalist, composer, bandleader of rare elegance. She is known  for accompanying herself through a widely diverse repertoire, showcasing emotionally potent, genre-defying original music seamlessly woven with reimagined works by Duke Ellington, Mulgrew Miller, Blossom Dearie, and others. Green and her band effortlessly blend modern innovation with the depth of jazz tradition, bringing audiences something as complex as it is accessible. 

Critics have called her “one of the most gifted vocalists working today” (Paris-Move) and “one of the most quietly revolutionary vocalists of her generation” (Thierry De Clemensat). Jazz legend Christian McBride describes her as “one of the most talented and spirited people I know.”

Kelly was born and raised in Orlando, Florida by her mother, a ceramicist, and her father, a professional bassist and audio engineer. She discovered jazz by way of Thelonius Monk’s Brilliant Corners at age eleven and began attending the Jamey Aebersold Jazz Workshop each summer alongside her father. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of North Florida, studying under Bunky Green and Lynne Arriale before completing her master’s degree at William Paterson University, where she found mentors in the great Harold Mabern and Mulgrew Miller.​

Since arriving in New York in 2015 she has performed and recorded with luminaries including Christian McBride, Wycliffe Gordon, Rich Perry, Steve Wilson, Scott Robinson, George Coleman, and Billy Hart.

Green has toured with her band (drummer Evan Hyde, bassist Luca Soul Rosenfeld, and flautist Elijah J. Thomas) extensively in the US, Europe, and South America, selling out lauded venues including Birdland, Dizzy’s Club (Jazz at Lincoln Center), Ronnie Scott’s, Duc De Lombards and appeared on stages including The Kennedy Center, Blue Note, the DC Jazz Festival, EFG London Jazz Festival, Long Island Jazz Festival, Figures Jazz Festival, and the Bahrain International Jazz Festival. In 2025, Green and her band were awarded the South Arts/Jazz Roads Touring Grant funded by the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation with additional support from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.

In addition to her performance career, Green is a respected educator, having served as a teaching artist for Jazz House Kids for over a decade. She has led masterclasses at York College, Jacksonville University, William Paterson University, and Western Michigan University.
